Duncan, We’ll Miss You
The girls and I were very saddened to hear of the sudden passing of my sister’s dog Duncan. Duncan was a beloved member of the family; my girls think of Suze and Duncan as a unit and are disappointed when Suze can’t bring him on her visits to Texas or Georgia. When we were in
kitty – 29 jul 2011
The hissing cousins are hanging out at the cabin with me, but they haven’t been much in the way of company.
Chloe’s Birthday Missions
At last, Chloe is nine! Sure, her birthday was almost a month ago, but she had not completed her birthday missions. Birthday missions? What are those you ask? Ah, well, to the listeners of the Absolutely Mindy show on Kids Place Live, these are the tasks that one must complete to become a year older.
at the cabin – 29 jul 2011
I headed up to the cabin Friday afternoon for a weekend of quiet.
Photo Friday: CNN Center
Since we have to stick closer to home this year so that Chloe can attend her “Training Team” gymnastic practices twice a week, I’ve decided that it might be lots of fun to play “Hometown Tourists”. There is a lot to see in Atlanta that we’ve just never made the time to see. This week,

Camille loves to draw. She works hard at improving her skills, checking out books from the library to learn more and more about how to draw manga characters.
CNN Center – 27 jul 2011
Today, my, mom, the girls and I went on a “hometown tourist” excursion to the CNN Center, where we took the Inside CNN tour. We had enjoyed seeing some of the studios in the building and learning more about how the news is made.

room of the week – living room
I know, I know, You are bored of hearing about it. And I’m bored of doing it. But, once it is done, we all feel a huge sense of accomplishment. We feel free to move on to other projects. A huge sigh of relief. And a feeling of a job well-done. This week (we’re at

Gustafer isn’t sure about Gooney quite yet. Camille knit this little guy for a new segment I’m considering for our kindie radio station/blog.
a whole week at home?
There is a chance that we will have a week (well, five days at least) at home this week. No need to get ahead, no catching up needed. Wow! What will we do? 1. Room of the week – This week is the living room. Not too bad, except for straightening out the homeschooling disasters.
the outdoors – 23 jul 2011
Yes, they are there, just outside that door.
Roadtrip: Life on the Road
Earlier this summer, Rob, the girls and I spent five and a half weeks living on the road. The trip was so long, the post office refused to hold our mail — mail can only be held for thirty days. “Is there an address that we can forward your mail to?” Um, no, there isn’t.
knitter’s tools – 22 jul 2011
The essentials : yarn, needles and an iPad. Camille is working on knitting a Gooney Bird for an idea I’m working on for our kids’ music blog. I can’t wait to see it!
Photo Friday: House in the Woods
This past week, the girls and I made a *very* fast roadtrip up to the DC suburbs; the entire trip was under 60 hours, with at least 25 of those being spent in the car. The motivation? To attend the One Voice Rocks! concert in Gaithersburg. What made the trip even more special was that
cooling off – 21 jul 2011
Oh man, is it ever hot?? I had the doors open for about 30 minutes this morning before I gave up. We packed our bags and headed for the mountains. The temps went down twenty degrees and grandma even has a little pool set up. We are all much cooler now.
live in concert: OneVoice Rocks!
When I first heard about the OneVoice Rocks! Festival, I knew the girls and I had to get there. Some of our favorite bands (SE rockers Lunch Money, Seattle’s Best Recess Monkey, hometown hero Robbie Schaefer) coming together? To play live music? For a great cause? Near where we love to be? How could we
flowers – 20 jul 2011
This morning, the girls followed the boys on the farm around on their morning chores. I just took photos and ate what they gathered…. fresh eggs and veggies along with yogurt made from milk from the goat.
