unexpected benefit
as I wrote the other day, I’ve decided to start using saved menus from the meal planning service I had signed up for a year or two ago.
Something magical happened. As these menus have simple *recipes*, Camille has taken to cooking dinner! She’s been making the homemade pizzas (we rely on her — she wasn’t here Friday so we had to get take-out). She’s been baking for a long time — cookies, muffins, breads, cakes.
But now she’s started making dinner as well! The recipes are fairly easy, but we’ve complicated them a little, since I’m trying to use more fresh ingredients than prepared or packaged ones. I’ve let her pick out the recipes (trying to keep to one fake meat meal a week). And she cooks!
Even better, Chloe made muffins from scratch for breakfast yesterday all by herself. She measured, she mixed, she used the oven and she EVEN cleaned up!!
I could really get used to this. Really.
