snow in the air
Who knew that it would snow so much in Georgia?
When snow is in the forecast, the anticipation can be felt in the air. The kids are excited, the grownups are excited, yet a little bit anxious as well. We wait, with baited breath, until it starts to fall. The kids get excited, head out to play. The adults stew over whether or not the roads are going to be safe or slippery. Georgia doesn’t have the infrastructure to clear the roads; one news report showed a guy tossing handfuls of salt onto a four lane road.
This year has been anomalous. Our street has been closed. We’ve gotten stuck at the cabin, not once, but twice, due to snow. We’ve been able to have snowball fights and build snowmen, though without sleds, sledding has not been successful. We’ve tried using plastic bin lids, kayaks, cardboard and other items, but nothing has worked well. Maybe with all of this snow, the time has come to invest in a sled!
Unlike other, colder places, the snow doesn’t stick around. It melts before we have time to be tired of it! In DC last weekend, it was 60 degrees out, yet there were mountains of filthy snow everywhere. Yuck.
