true vacation
it’s been a true vacation. no working. no rushing off to tours. no cooking. no cleaning. just sitting by the pool, letting the lifeguard panic and the pool boy bring the food and drinks. (though i admit i have kept up with email, facebook, photos and even the gbk radio blog….and even got my phone
relaxing in cancun
well, here i am again. traveling. and blogging. i spent the week that we were home catching up, getting ahead and going to a concert. but now we are here, sitting in the “junior” suite listening to the waves after a day of relaxing at the pool, at the beach and at a long leisurely
gustafer!
i wrote about the Gustafer Yellowgold show at Eddie’s Attic on our gooney bird kids blog, but I thought this photo was so cute that I wanted to share it here too. This is Chloe and “Gustafer Junior” in their matching outfits. The first time we saw “junior” he was something like three months old
happy birthday to me!
yesterday was my 39th (there I said it) birthday. That gives me one year until the milestone birthday of 40. Rob and the girls sang Happy Birthday to me and ate cake for me. My parents called and also sang. (Why all this singing? Why not something more interesting?) Mindy asked if I had completed
destination birthday party
back in september, camille decided that what she really wanted for her birthday was a trip to MagiQuest. we had visited it on our last trip to Myrtle Beach, and it seemed to be exactly the kind of thing Camille would love to do. to increase the fun, we decided to invite two of her
how does this happen?
i get home, and i just stop blogging. i guess when we are home, i just have so much to do that i don’t have a spare moment to blog or to come with any ideas worth blogging about. being home involves a constant stream of mundane errands that need to be completed before we
heading home …
we had planned to head home today. in the morning, the girls and i packed all our stuff. then i read the ajc and facebook. black ice. everywhere. 515. 285. Pine Lake. while i am confident in my driving ability (i did go to school in upstate NY, after all) and my AWD subaru, i’m
snow! in Georgia!
surprise, surprise, the weather reports were accurate. this afternoon it started to snow, right on time. the snow has now been coming down steadily for two hours and is expected to continue right through tomorrow. how much accumulation will we get? while we saw lots more snow just last week in Colorado, it is always
a week to myself
what would you do if you had a week to yourself? i can’t remember the last time that’s happened to me. but it is fun to imagine. what would i do? travel to far off places? Nope. I’d prefer to go to those places with my family. spend the time at home? Not really. i’d
daily photo 2010
in 2009, i tried to upload a photo a day to picasa, resulting in 227 days of photos. for 2010, i am going to try to beat that number. Not only that, but I also hope to have more variety and better photos than I did last year. here’s to a great 2010 in photos!
holiday letters
Instead of randomly opening holiday cards as they trickle in between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day, we have made a tradition of stacking the envelopes in a special place and then opening the whole pile as a family activity on Christmas Eve. It’s a fun time and a way to help temper the Christmas Eve energy
frigid! frozen! frosty!
having just gotten back from Colorado, we shouldn’t be quite so affected by Georgia’s cold snap. But 25 degrees here feels much, much colder than 10 degrees in Steamboat felt. Is it the humidity? The wind? I have no idea, but it sure is chilly here, even when I’ve got on all the layers that
homebuilding
yesterday the girls and I went out for a walk on the roads and trails around the cabin. the girls spent the first few minutes in sprint races, then settled into more leisurely activities. the one activity that kept them engaged was searching for perfect bits of nature for creating and outfitting fairy houses. As
happy new year!
Here we are in 2010! Champagne sipped, brownies eaten, calendars updated and resolutions made. Here’s to a wonderful new year. We’re going to make it a memorable one, without a doubt!
