books:
- From my neighbor Allison: BBAW Day #1 Giveaway: Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich
(I don’t read mysteries, but maybe you do …) - AND another: BBAW Day #1 – Another Giveaway! The giveaway books are The Chocolate Lovers’ Club by Carole Matthews and Mating Rituals of the North American WASP by Lauren Lipton.
travel:
- The Urge to Preserve: British Banter, Holy Bones, and Inspired Globe-Jotting podcast from Rick Steves. From this, I plan on buying (library doesn’t have it) the book Globejotting: How to Write Extraordinary Travel Journals (and still have time to enjoy your trip!) by Dave Fox
work/life balance:
- The Autumn of the Multitaskers
Neuroscience is confirming what we all suspect: Multitasking is dumbing us down and driving us crazy. One manโs odyssey through the nightmare of infinite connectivity
radio/podcasts:
- This American Life Episode 389: Frenemies (For me, not as interesting as the Rest Stop episode.)
- Malcolm Gladwell on Cultivating High Performance
Should the educational system identify the gifted children and give them separate, enhanced educational programs?
- Free song from Dan Zanes and Friends “The Fine Friends Are Here”
- recent reviews of “kindie” music (TMBG, Peter Himmelman and more)
words and phrases:
- Lexical Gap
- Y’All versus Youse Guys verus You (plural)
- Tactile Learning
- I hadn’t seen this one before: WIIFM (What’s in it for me/)
pets:
- Though I don’t understand where she learned it, I do appreciate that our kitty Gazoo wipes her feet before entering the house. If only everyone would do that!
social networking:
- Email notifications of new Blogger features because Blogger is ten… As an aside, Google’s birthday (Sept 27, 1998) is memorable for us, because Camille was born the day before. Camille is therefore of the pre-Google generation.
