making lists

As our year of having an apartment in DC is coming to a close, I’m working on my list of the things I WON’T miss. Then maybe I won’t feel so sad about no having a place in DC.

I won’t miss:

• the desk lamp that is masquerading as a bedside lamp and which burns me every time I try to turn it off
• the lack of a real cooking pot (why didn’t I just buy one last August?)
• closet doors that come off the track every time I open or close them
• being a single parent for a majority of the time
• spending a whole lot of money on commuting and parking, even though I work from home

But my “will miss” list is just as long. I know what I’d do differently if a similar opportunity arises in the future. I’ll save that for a different post.
