Tuneful Tuesday – European Playground

One thing that I love to do before a trip is to try to prepare myself and the kids for the place we are heading, especially when it is a new place for us to go. I get books, movies and music that relate to the place in some way. For movies, I look for travel movies, like Rick Steves or Michael Palin or others. For books, I look for both travel books and for kidlit that features the location. For music, well, I search our music library, then the local count library as well.

This summer, we are heading to Paris and Nice. And I am starting to gather anything and everything French. (And would appreciate any pointers of books, movies, and music.)

A CD that arrived in our mailbox (for our gbk radio station/blog) is one that, while not French, does have a nice French selection on it. If you are planning to travel to any European country this summer, whether in person or in a “unit study,” this European Playground from Putumayo Kids is a great CD to add to your collection.

In addition to preparing with books, movies and music, I love to pick up new books and music while traveling. Finding a good bookstore or music store is such fun!
