Around DC
Besides going to the White House Easter Egg Roll and taking the bus to Vienna to see a kids’ show (more on that coming soon), we’ve also taken in a few more of the sites of DC. I’m in the midst of a documentation release and the weather has been not so nice, so we haven’t gotten out as much as I would have liked, but …
On Saturday evening, just after we arrived at the apartment, we all headed out to the south side of the Mall to go see the Cherry Blossom Festival Fireworks. We joined thousands of people walking down the street towards the waterfront and stopped where they did. Surprise for all of us was that when the fireworks began, we couldn’t see them! The show was being blocked by a building. So we, and everyone else, started rapidly walking further down to where we would actually be able to see the show. And are we glad we did! It was spectacular. Chloe ooohed and aaahed and was just so thrilled with it all!
On Sunday, after we returned from our journey to suburban Virginia, we decided to take a boat tour on the Potomac. Just 45-minutes, cruising from Georgetown down to the airport and back. We went just before sunset and the lighting on the buildings of Washington was fantastic!
Yesterday, the girls and I braved the rain (and the crowds!) to go to the Air and Space Museum. We’ve been there many times, but Chloe had it in her mind that she really wanted to go there. We decided to go to a planetarium show while we were there.
