SteveSongs Came to Atlanta!
I think I first heard of SteveSongs when I picked up one of his CDs on the “used” table at the library. That was years ago! We listened a bit, but were still held by gravity on Ralph’s World and not ready to begin our adventure yet. I think the next we hear Steve was on Spare the Rock over two years ago. Bill played “No Good Toys” and my Harry Potter fan went nuts for the song. We started listening more. Chloe loved the CD “The King, The Mice and The Cheese.” And pretty soon we all were hooked on Steve.
We’ve been playing his music on our radio station, listening to it on others and playing his CD in the car. Just a couple of months ago, we started watching his new DVD “The Marvelous Musical Adventures” and loved it (our little review.)
We were so excited to hear that Steve was coming back to Atlanta! On Saturday headed down to the Red Light Cafe and were pleasantly surprised to see that there was a good sized crowd inside when we got there. We found a table in the back and the girls insisted on juice and crackers even though they had been eating breakfast in the car on the way! When they were done, Chloe wanted to go say hi to Steve so we went and waited in line with everyone else who wanted to stay hi. He was very nice and seemed happy to see us. I tried taking photos, but the lighting is bizarre in the RLC and I never get good photos there.
The show was great! It was Steve solo, and he really got the audience involved. The littles among the kids were all excited that they had seen him on tv, and now here he was right in front of them! Steve had to balance the set between songs that the PBS
viewers knew and the older fans knew. He did a nice job of making it all fun for all. Chloe got to go up on stage and be his helper for the square dancing mice song. At the end of the show, Steve even gave GBK a shout-out, which was so nice of him !
Afterwards, the girls wanted to hang around more and say goodbye, so we did. I hope we get to see him again very soon!
