Dirty Sock Funtime Band
Wow, how has a whole week gone by since we went to the concert at the Ferst Center!
Again, Rob found a concert that I had not heard of. I think I’m losing my touch. He forwarded me a mail of the upcoming concerts at Georgia Tech, which included this one featureing The Dirty Sock Funtime Band. We have seen a permutation of the band perform once before at Stink in Brooklyn in 2007. But as we don’t have tv, we really didn’t know much about them. I figured that it would be a great way to have a fun time between Breakfast with Santa and the Lighting of the Lake.
We raced over, only to find a slow moving line — the computers were down at the ticket office at the Ferst Center. People were really annoyed, but once they understood the problem, they were much more relaxed about it. I think they should have made an announcement “We are having problems with the computers, please be patient.” Fortunately, there was a nice room with good food (finger sandwiches) and activities, so the kids could stay busy.
In the theater, we had reasonable seat. High enough not to be blocked by the kids in the mosh pit, but close enough to catch everything that was going on. Neither of my girls wanted to go dance — we weren’t very familiar with the band or the music, so they were happy to be spectators for the show. And the show was quite entertaining. Lots of antics and audience participation to keep us bopping along.
On the way out of the show, Chloe tripped and split her lip AND got a bloody nose. I took her off to the bathroom to clean her up. After she was a little better, we went to meet the band and get a photo. They were very accommodating and friendly! It was a nice way to spend the mid-morning.
