Hours at the Hirshhorn
Today the whole family headed out to visit the Hirshhorn Museum. It had something for everyone! Before going in the girls took a spin on the carousel outside the Smithsonian Castle. It spins super fast and Chloe thinks it is the greatest!
As we walked into the museum, we enjoyed watching the fountain right in the center of the circular building and looking at the sculptures around the outside. Once inside, the sculptures and abstract art were fascinating. There were so many different styles, some of which we couldn’t understand why it was art.
We had a great time watching along movie about a weird contraption. we watched the whole thing, even though it was a half-hour of one thing bumping into another and making the next thing happen.
From there, we walked across the Mall to the Cafe by the National Sculpture Garden. The fountain had been drained and is the process of being converted into it winter use as an ice skating rink. Boring to see it in the transition. We had a nice lunch there, then walked to the metro and headed home.
