Home Again Lickity Jig
…or however that goes.
We got home this morning at 3am after a 15 cop car high speed chase (not chasing me, I promise) on I-75, rumble strip driving through the mountains in TN west of Chattanooga (due to construction on the mountain pass), and various other adventures.
I woke up this morning to water pouring out of the can light in the kitchen. Chloe had clogged the upstairs toilet and flushed multiple times, resulting in quite a flood.
Then it was off to my dentist appointment for some kid-free relaxation ๐ A massage might have been better, but the “You have beautiful teeth — come back in 6 months” was close enough.
It was ALL WORTH IT! We got to spend a day in the presence of greatness. I do think Ralph Covert is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. What creativity, knowledge, talent, inspiration etc, that this man exudes. He’s too intense for me to spend more than a few hours with him…but he’s a huge inspiration, and I’m thankful that he shares himself with us.
I have videos here.
I’m still working through the 500 photos plus movies I took this weekend; here’s my first attempt:

Welcome home! What a wild summer you’ve had. When do you head to the DC area?
And the dentist. So not my favorite thing. But if they gave foot massages while they had their hands in my mouth…it might be a fabulous experience…
What a journey home! I hate those. I am happy for you about your dentist appt. I had one of those today as well, with a new dentist. It was awful. It took an hour for me to be seen and x-rayed and then I had to wait another 45 minutes before a consultation, no cleaning. Two cavities and receding gums (I’ve only ever had one cavity in my whole life) and there was a lot of dust on the light arm that they pull over to your mouth. I am taking my x-rays and then running back to my old dentist, even if it means paying out of pocket. whew. I needed that.
Kat – thanks. The girls and I are gong in two weeks for another “pilgrimage” , but Rob’s lease starts one month from today.
I don’t mind the dentist too much, if it is just a cleaning. But I get so nervous that they are going to tell me I need some additional work…
Madeline – Sorry to hear about your bad dentist experience. That’s the worst.
I had one dentist a few years ago that broke my one and only filling. Since he was so “sleazy” trying to sell me all this stuff, I waited years to go to (a different) dentist (the one we have now we really like). By then my one cavity with the broken filling was pretty bad. Grrr.
What a welcome home! Yikes. Matt got home Monday to malfunctioning a/c (the upstairs was 88 degrees). It’s limping along till the guy comes Saturday to fix it, so not as bad as the clog!
Allison – Malfunctioning AC is no fun…I hope it is an easy fix! We got the toilet unclogged and hope that there was no permanent damage to the ceiling.
