Japan Trip, Day 7
Chloe woke this morning with a bit of a fever still. We actually were at breakfast later than 6:30. The place was packed already. It seems that this resort is quite busy on the weekends compared to the middle of the week. Chloe ate a little potatoes and rice (skipping the pasta and bread that would round out the meal). After breakfast, we headed back to the room to do laundry. We weren’t really sure how to run the machines, so we put in some soap (sitting by the machine for free), put in some yen and then put in the clothes. The dryers didn’t seem to be able to dry to more than slightly damp, so I hung the clothes out on the deck.
Chloe was feeling better, so the three of us headed to the pool. We stayed in the Garden Pool for a while, but Chloe got too cold. We then went to the indoor pool for a long time; it was the busiest I had seen. After the girls were done swimming, we went to the room and got dressed and went to the marche to get some things for lunch. Camille worked on writing a story using the computer; Chloe took a nap.
Rob came home just before 4. We hung out for a while, and we watched a weird cartoon that seems to be a collaboration between Japan and Spain. then he took the girls down to the stores to buy some souvenirs. I asked him to buy the “kid” shisa. They are actually piggy banks, which is pretty cool. Camille got a necklace and a glass ball with dragon inside. Chloe got a cute pair of shisa and a purse of plastic ocean animals.
After they came back, we all headed out for a walk. We saw lots of shisa on houses and some nice little stores. Chloe was getting floppy, so we carried her some of the way, but we got her a drink at a vending machine, and she perked up. It appeared to be an orange drink with tapioca in it… Back at the room, we had some sandwiches and watched volleyball. Chloe asked why they take so many “sweat breaks” (time outs).
Rob and Camille went to the marche and bought some Blue Seal ice cream. From everything I had read, it was a “not to be missed” Okinawan treat. Apparently, it was an American brand brought here during the occupation and now only survives in Okinawa. We had mango, pineapple, sugar cane and blue sweet potato. Delicious.
One thing I’ve noticed here is that I have not had any bugs bother me. Very nice.
Chloe’s watched too much AFN. Yesterday she said that there are “three places that people have wars: air, land and sea.”

It sounds like you guys have had a good time in Okinawa – well, except for the Fever. Does she have any other symptoms? Have a safe trip to the mainland — we are headed back home today.
Yeah, I wish we had spent more time exploring – though it is clear there isn’t too much to explore near the hotel.
Chloe had a headache and a sore throat to go along with the fever. And now I have a slight headache and a slight sore throat. I hope it goes away soon.
Have a safe and hassle-free trip back home….I gotta go pack.
