Japan Trip, Day 3 (Quiet Time + Dinner)
We were all sun and waterlogged from the morning outside, so after lunch, the girls and I hung out inside. Well, I sat on the balcony overlooking the ocean, reading Jitensha: Down the Japanese Archipelago on a Bicycle on the Kindle. It is quite interesting to hear the author’s perspectives on Japanese culture and customs while we make our own observations.
Chloe watched a show designed to teach English to Japanese. A bit bizarre. The topic was the migration habits of butterflies. It put her right to sleep. Chloe and I ended up napping while Camille read. Rob came back around 6pm and took the girls to the pool. When they returned, we headed for dinner. At Cafe Romani. For that great Japanese culinary treat. Pizza Margherita! It was pretty good, though the glass of chiati I had with it wasn’t so good. Rob took the girls to the arcade for a short while after dinner.
As a high school student, it was shocking to me that one could buy beer from a vending machine on the streets of Japan. I’m sure we took lots of photos of Kirin machines while here. This trip, Rob was surprised about the presence of these machines. On our floor, one can buy coke, iced coffee, green tea and beer, but no snacks, from the vending machines. Rob also mentioned that there are beer vending machines at the research center where he is going each day.
