Japan Trip – Day 2 (Swimming + Lunch)
After our walk down the beach, we headed back to the room to dehumidify and wait for the pool to open. I worked on processing the 60+ photos I had taken that morning, Rob worked on getting ready for his meeting, Camille read, and Chloe watched Sesame Street (in English). There appears to be an American tv station that plays a huge mix of programming from various sources (PBS, Nickelodeon, CBS, CNN, etc.).
After Rob left, the girls and I hung out for a little longer, then headed down to the pool. We walked in and realized that shoes were supposed to come off. Okay, done. Then the “attendant” asked us our room number — show him the key. Okay, done. Ask him for towels. Y400, the done. Showers. Good. Whew. We were practically the only people at the outdoor pool. The landscaping and setting of the garden pool is quite nice!
Chloe had to go to the bathroom. Head back to the shower area; only mens’ restroom. “Tore wa, o-doku desu ka?” Doubt I said it quite right, but he got my drift. Rubber slippers in the doorway — DON’T walk into the bathroom in bare feet!!! Then, Japanese style toilet; our first for this trip . Chloe said it was like squatting when you are camping. Yup. But there were Western toilets too, so she chose that.
After we had enough time swimming inside and out, we headed back to the room to change, then down to the marche for some food to supplement the peanut butter, jelly and crackers that we brought with us.
Lunch on the balcony was quite pleasant. I keep thinking that this place reminds me of the French Riviera or PlayaCar (Mayan Riviera). Perhaps we will call it the Japanese Riviera?

Beats some of the “toilets” in Italy that are just holes in the middle of the room…
It’s actually not too hard to use when all you have on is a swimsuit, too….
It’s funny to contrast that with the toilet in our room that has a heated seat and little “bidet” showers to wash two different areas …
