Can it be true?
Did we really manage to bring everything that we meant to bring?
Since we seem to hit the road every week or two, the girls are responsible for packing their own clothes, diversions and homeschooling. I’ve come to accept that on each trip there will be at least one thing that will have been forgotten.
Last week, we headed off to Kentucky in Evie. And since we were not in MY car, I ended up not having any shoes, since I keep my shoes IN MY CAR. I jumped into Evie barefoot, as I usually jump into the car, but then realized my mistake as we barreled down the highway. Luckily, I had packed some hiking boots, so I was not totally shoeless.
On one trip to the beach, Chloe brought only Mary Janes for shoes. Camille tends to always forget some piece of her homeschooling, a hairbrush or a booklight. We’ve worked on having “travel supplies” so we just need to grab a bag that contains the things we need; Evie is prepacked with toiletries and flashlights.
But, even so, we still forget things. My mantra is that as long as I have the kids, a credit card and my passport (or driver’s license), then all else can be replaced.
