Mondays are for Dreaming: Paris
How clichรฉ can you get? But yes, today I dream of Paris. It is hard to believe that a year and a half has passed since my last trip to the City of Light. As a child/teen, I visited Paris twice and thought I was the luckiest kid ever.
Fresh out of grad school, I think other than the salary, one of the things that excited me most about my new job was that I would be working for a French company and would likely get to travel to Paris once a year or so. And, for years, that did happen. And, despite the logistical challenges of traveling for work with two small children, we enjoyed our trips to France. But then airfares got out of reach. And then my company was acquired by IBM, and we don’t have our wonderful face-to-face meetings as often (or perhaps ever again).
Even so, Camille is just twelve and has been to Paris at least nine times. Chloe is eight and has been five times, though I doubt she remembers anything form the first four trips she made…
Despite having visited over a dozen times myself, I still dream of Paris. The museums, the playgrounds, the bread, the activity that makes Paris what it is.
We’ll get back someday. But for now, I’ll dream of Paris.
This is an entry for Mondays are For Dreaming at Mother of All Trips.
