Discovering: Water Taxi in Fort Lauderdale
Before we headed off to Fort Lauderdale, I did a little bit of research to come up with ideas of things to do with the kids while we were there. One place I wanted to take the kids was to the Museum of Discovery and Science, but Chloe wanted to stay at the pool and not go (once she actually saw it, she was mad at herself and pledged to listen to my advice in the future — we’ll see if that holds!).
However, one activity I found in my research we did end up doing : ride on the Water Taxi. One of the stops was near our hotel, so we walked over and hopped on board a waiting boat. There were just a few other people on the boat, and we settled in. After we left the dock, we paid for a “Family Pack” for the four of us.
I found the trip to not be a taxi, but a “tour lite”. Seeing Fort Lauderdale from the waterways brought us a brand new perspective, and I appreciated that. The trip was slow, but we were in no hurry. Then the cruise folks got on — WAY too many people! We got off at the Las Olas Riverfront and explored Fort Lauderdale and Las Olas.
When we decided to catch a boat back, we waited a long time at one of the stops, then the boat that came by was FULL. Instead of waiting for another 30 minutes, we decided to walk back to Beach Blvd. (Don’t count on the Water Taxi as being a convenient way to get around for a day!)
Rob and Chloe went back out at night to take another boat ride using the all day passes.
