Life in the Village
I stopped in to talk to the postal person today when I went to get the mail. We ordered something form Amazon, and the site insisted on a street address. Yesterday, I found out that the item had shipped via US Mail! Since we don’t get mail delivery at home (our village is too small to qualify for that luxury), this was bothersome.
I explained the problem to my post office friend. Her response was surprising. Way back when it might not have been surprising, but today? Yes, it was. She knew me by sight. Knew my name. And knew my PO Box number. No database. Just her knowledge.
Smallness has its perks, as long as you don’t want to be anonymous. I have to wonder what she knows about us. We get A LOT of CDs. Liberal leaning mailings. Wow, I bet she knows A LOT about us….

No idea why amazon wouldn’t let me use a PO Box, except that we were ordering before the item (Wii game) had been released…. bah.
