Flicks on 5th
Tuesday night , we went to the Stone Mountain Laser show. Last night, we headed out of the house again for another free show…Flicks on 5th, “a free outdoor summer film series at Technology Square”.
I’d been searching the web for half an hour to find something to do and had resigned myself to an outing to the Apple Store (I hate the mall, but I need a new phone.) Then, just as the evening was approaching, I saw it! A free movie on the street in midtown near Georgia Tech! Rob’s parking pass provided us with free parking. We set up our chairs in the middle of the street right in front of Moe’s — dinner and a movie!
Unfortunately, the movie wasn’t a great one for kids — Sherlock Holmes, but I figured Camille would like it and Chloe would fall asleep or just cuddle. Before the movie started, Chloe hula hooped like mad and played frisbee with Rob, so she helped in the plan by tiring herself out right before the show. It was a bit too intense for Chloe, but not too bad for Camille. And I got another night out that only cost us the price of dinner.
Moreover, the crowd was a very mild one. No one was disruptive or annoying. People sat in their chairs or on their blankets and watched the movie. No loud conversations or phone calls. I didn’t even see anyone smoking! I wasn’t sure what to expect at a street movie intown by a college campus, and I was quite impressed with the atmosphere.
