Lasers, Fireworks and Pyrotechnics
Lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve been in a terrible rut. I’m bored with the mountain of daily tasks I have to do. I’m bored of staying home trying to get things done. I’m trying to get to where I’m not missing out on things just because “I have so much to do!”
Yesterday evening, we picked up sandwiches and headed out to Stone Mountain — since we have a parking pass, we get waved right in to the park, don’t even have to stop. After a couple wrong turns by Rob, who refused to believe me until *he* recalled the right place, we found our way onto Memorial Lawn. It wasn’t empty, but it was far from crowded.
Music was blasting. Just about every song was a “line dance” song. Watching people of all ages, total strangers, all getting up and doing the Chicken Dance was surreal. I’m sure any foreigners in the crowd were utterly perplexed by this bizarre dance.
Chloe and Rob played frisbee. A girl near us practice her flag twirling. Other people were playing catch. Finally, around 9:30, when it was finally dark, the laser show started. Laser, fireworks, music and pyrotechnics all combined to tell stories of Georgia — sports, music, and more. It was all a bit too loud, but overall, a fun evening out.
What will today bring? A dollar movie? A trip to the Apple Store? We’ll just have to wait and see.
