Mondays are for Dreaming: (The Wonderful World of) Disney
Ah Disney. Every family dreams of heading to Disney. Or not. I personally don’t dream of Disney. But my kids sure do…almost as much as they dream of going back to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
It’s not that they’ve never been to Disney. Truth be told, they’ve been to Disney on three continents. In the past few years, they’ve been to Disneyland Tokyo, EuroDisney, and MGM (what’s that called now?). Back in 2002, we spent a week in Orlando, hitting all four parks at least once, though Chloe, having been three months old at the time, doesn’t remember that trip.
It’s not that I’m anti-Disney. Sure, there are a number of things I don’t like about Disney. I don’t like marketing to kids, I don’t like the plastic junk, I don’t like some of their other questionable practices. But I don’t hate it. I don’t refuse to go (obviously). But honestly, I’d rather spend my money and time elsewhere.
Nevertheless, when we do go to Disney, we generally do have a good time. It is a happy place. The kids love it, and therefore, I can’t help but enjoying being there seeing them having such a good time.
And maybe we’ll end up there again…in the off-season, of course. Or, perhaps, as a stop on our potential trip out west this summer…
This is an entry for Mondays are For Dreaming at Mother of All Trips.
