book report – 3 nov 2015
Been a while since my last book update. My trip to France put everything else on hold, and I’m now slowly getting back into the rhythm of ordering books from the library and reading them ….
This week I finished one book, The Rocks by Peter Nichols. Really enjoyed it.
On Sunday, Camille and I went to a book talk and came away with two copies of Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor. The authors, who are famous for their podcast, caught my attention in their interview, and I’ll try to read the book – even if I did not love the podcast. We’ll see.
I started a bunch last week and will continue to read them this week:
- Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert. Hated “Eat, Love, Pray”. I’ll read to the end, but I don’t really like it.
- Women & Money: Owning the Power to Control Your Destiny by Suze Orman. Time for me to be sure I understand the family’s financial status and how we should plan for the future.
- Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married by Marian Keyes. Inspired by reading “The Woman Who Stole My Life”, I ordered this one from the library. But I know I’ve read it before. Can’t remember the ending, so I’ll read it again if I feel like it…..
Still have The Old Ways: A Journey on Foot by Robert Macfarlane on my bedside table.
I am still slowly making my way through The College Solution: A Guide for Everyone Looking for the Right School at the Right Price (2nd Edition) by Lynn O’Shaughnessy and Colleges That Change Lives: 40 Schools That Will Change the Way You Think About Colleges by Loren Pope. I think soon we’ll be using all the information we’ve gleamed from these.
I keep a list of completed books on Goodreads. I also keep one here on my blog.
