Ireland Trip: Day 0
Zoom Zoom Zoom.
In the end we decided to travel carry-on only, so the girls and I wheeled our bags out the door and across the street to MARTA.
After getting no help from the Delta ticket agents about printing our boarding passes for the JFK to Shannon part of the journey, we headed to security. I hadn’t noticed before then, but we had TSA PreCheck! Wow, was it nice not to have to unpack the liquids, computers, etc. and get to leave on our shoes! As we walked to the plane, I ran into a fellow Red Cross volunteer who was on her way to Texas to assist with the floods.
It took us a bit of time to get boarding passes and check our bags at baggage service. With our lighter load, we jumped on the AirTrain to the subway and into the city! First stop was Midtown Comics in Times Square for Camille to pick up her weekly supply of comics. Then over to H&M for Chloe to buy a sweatshirt – she had forgotten hers at home.
At Rockerfeller Center, the tickets for Top of the Rock were too late in the evening, so we decided to have a leisurely dinner, picking up food at Pret A Manger. Then back to the subway, AirTrain and baggage service. Again, we had TSA PreCheck, so we quickly were inside security.
The girls played the various large-screen games in the terminal as we made our way to the gate. After we had settled in the chairs and got our devices charging, Barbara came out from the SkyClub to join us.
The flight to Shannon was quite full and running late. Even though it left at almost midnight, they still served dinner. I chose to ignore it and to try to sleep instead.
