Thanks goodness for all of the wonderful snowy weather clothes we purchased last year for our trip to Steamboat! Snowpants, long underwear, snow boots and warm, warm socks all came in quite handy today for a full day of sledding on our street!

dumbledore – 9 jan 2011
On the days when I clean out the turtle’s cage, she gets to run around the house .. though she generally heads into the deepest corner of the kitchen. The freedom is overwhelming for her, I suppose.
tiles – 8 jan 2011
Chloe loves games; all kinds of games. Her new spelling abilities have opened up a whole new range of games to her. Though she still tries to get away with non-words often.
Scenes from Our Week
This week, among other things, we drove to Florida and back to spend a couple days with Rob’s parents, spotting interesting sights along the way: We visited the beach on both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts: We found lots of cool shells: We went to Kennedy Space Center and Mote Marine Aquarium: We went to…
gazoo – 1 jan 2011
Gazoo is quite happy that we came home from Florida and has been sitting on me as much as possible… One of my resolutions for 2011 is to get more comfortable using my external flash, so I dusted it off and used it to take this photo.
Scenes from Our Week
This week, among other things, we watched the lunar eclipse and celebrated the solstice: we had outings to Arabia Mountain and the High Museum: we spent time at home playing games, working on our projects/crafts and dressing up: and, of course, we celebrated Christmas by opening cards and presents: What will next week bring??
Scenes from Our Week
This week, among other things … it was snowy, icy and foggy: we ate comfort food: we got in the holiday spirit: I got a new computer: Rob and the girls broke things: and Chloe got married:
Photo Friday: Over the River and Through the Woods
As we’ve done for the past 10+ years, we headed up to Blue Ridge, Georgia, to my parents’ cabin for Thanksgiving. I do love getting out to the woods and taking long walks along the (sort of) country lanes down to and along the river. Camille came with me on many of my walks, and…
Mondays are for Dreaming: White Christmas
The holiday season is in full swing here in our little hamlet of Pine Lake. This past weekend, we celebrated with our Pancake Breakfast with Santa, Cookie Exchange and Lighting of the Lake. Our house is decked with a tree, lights and pine rope. Holly, the contemporary Sirius/XM holiday music station is almost always turned…
Light Up Blue Ridge
The finale of our Thanksgiving celebrations last weekend was “Light Up Blue Ridge”. Each year, the celebration has grown and grown. I suppose there is no surprise there. That’s what happens. My mom went down early to practice with the tubas. When the rest of us arrived, we had to park in the new auxiliary…
Christmas Tree
Despite my constant mantra that we will not prepare for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, Christmas came early for Chloe yesterday. Rob, unable to wait, presented her with her very own harness, and Chloe was so excited she headed up the tree using her pre-Thanksgiving Christmas gift.
New Breakfast Recipe
It’s been that kind of week. I have barely managed to complete the necessary, given our crazy travel schedule (TX > home > Blue Ridge) and the brain numbing headache that descended on me today. I can hardly string two thoughts together at this point. While I’ve never been a wordsmith, I had hopes of…
Sand Castle Princess
Pine Lake is bustling with Lakefest activities today! I can hear the music from our house (finally cool enought to have windows open!) and love seeing so many people out and about on this gorgeous fall day. Unfortunately, I have not been feeling very social this week and ended up spending only a short amount…
Photo Friday: Destination Family
Last weekend, the four of us flew up to Massachusetts to visit with the girls’ cousins for a few days. It has been so long since the girls have gotten to see their cousins, I was a little worried. Chloe and her cousin C. are only a few months apart. What if they just didn’t…
Best of Friends
They aren’t really “best friends”; they haven’t even seen each other for a couple of years. But after a weekend together up in Massachusetts, their bond as cousins is stronger than ever. While giggling like maniacs at dinner, another diner remarked “Ah, best friends!” Chloe and Camille only have two (human) cousins, and I need…
Happy Birthday, Camille!
As far as planning went, I did not a single thing. But, nonetheless, I believe Camille had a very awesome birthday! Time with her cousins, a fun concert, birthday cake, and even a couple of presents from her cousins…
Up in the Trees, Again
A couple of years ago, Chloe headed off with Rob to go hang out Up in the Trees. While Chloe hasn’t picked up this “sport”, Rob has. I haven’t really paid much attention, except to note that the tree in our back yard looks like Spiderman has come to visit and every so often I…
Photo Friday: Warm
Photo taken on 17 Jul 2010. Warm isn’t hot. Right now, we are still HOT. The word “warm” makes me think of bundling up against chilly weather, and I’m lacking photos of that nature at the moment! Yes, I realize that it is not Friday, but Thursday. However, I’ve decided to begin submitting my weekly…
Macro Fun
Clearing out my to-do last month included my crossing off an item that had been on the list for two years — buying a new lens. I wavered between a fish-eye lens and a macro lens for so long, I forced myself to finally choose. I ended up with a nice macro lens! I can’t…
she’s distracted.
So I’m feeling pretty low at the moment. Homeschooling Chloe is incredibly different than homeschooling Camille. It’s like night and day, and, honestly, it is driving me nuts. Camille, for the most part, knows how to sit down, look at the list of tasks for the week, figure out what she needs to do for…
