I got home Friday evening with no incident. Saturday morning, I woke up very early, which was good, since I had an Easter Egg Hunt to organize. I met the volunteers down at the beach at sunrise and we hid tons of eggs on the beach and on the grass. Lots of families came out…

Je suis une végétarienne
Ugh. It is a frustration here. I don’t like to go out to eat, as it turns into such a problem! Even when the meeting organizers warn the hotel and the meeting places that there are a number of vegetarians amongst our group, the serving staff still insist that they have nothing else. The first…
Rainy Day
Unfortunately, the weather today was terrible. Every time I thought it was about to clear up, it would start to rain again. I ended up just going for a walk around Gentilly. I’ve decided that I really don’t like Gentilly very much. Too many broken windows and deserted streets. Tomorrow is back to work, but…
Einy Meany Miney Mo
Easter is early this year. Very early. How early you ask? Just ask Gauss. Really! I admit I have not read the whole Wikipedia article Date of Easter but the graph was enough for me. Easter is abnormally early this year. But, from what I understand, Passover is next month, not during the same lunar…
Girl Scout Cookies
It’s that time. Rob went and picked up our cookies from the house of our “cookie mom”. Camille had presold 40 boxes, and I tacked on 100 boxes to her order, figuring we would sell them here in our village or at Rob’s work. That’s a big cash outlay, but I’m sure we’ll sell them….
Home Sweet Home
The girls and I got home today. As it goes, we missed Rob who is headed back to DC for the third time in a little over a week. Maybe we should just get an apartment there! As from the very first time we entered Pine Lake a little over a year ago, my whole…
Let It Snow
It started snowing last night … when I got up around 5am this morning, it was snowing again. The girls ran around in the snow soon after it stopped coming down. Of course, they feel getting cold in the snow is a great excuse to drink hot chocolate. Chloe prefers her hot chocolate lukewarm. But…
Snowing Yet Again
It has been a day of wild weather here in Georgia. At home in Pine Lake, the violent storms brought a tree down on a house on our street, trapping our neighbor inside; she was rescued by EMS and is recovering after surgery at a local hospital. It is unclear if the house can be…
Lost in a Book
Saturday night was the Pine Lake chili cook-off. As the president of the neighborhood association, it was my job to make sure that publicity and preparations were taken care of, plus the awarding of prizes. Overall, the event was a smashing success. The beach house was crowded, but not overly so. Lots of our neighbors…
Valentine’s Day Sugar High
On Saturday, we had celebrated the holiday of red hearts and sugar. The girls and I gathered lots of art supplies and invited lots of friends over to spend an afternoon of fun. We had cookie decorating, pin the heart on Cupid, valentines exchange and lots of running around having fun.
Spring is in the Air!
Chinese New Year
All along, we were excited about having guests for dinner tonight, but we found a great website with Chinese New Year’s Crafts yesterday, and the girls decided they wanted to do them ALL. We headed to Hobby Lobby for pipe cleaners, tissue paper, felt and more, and ended up making lots and lots of crafts….
Other Hobbies
Not much time to write here as I’ve been concentrating on some other projects: reading Don Quioxte, learning to draw, studying French, coming up to speed on being the president of our village neighborhood association (including revamping the website), preparing for next year’s homeschooling, starting to knit and more…. All you seasoned knitters, please don’t…
Cancelations
Yesterday afternoon, activities all over Atlanta for Saturday and Sunday were canceled. We woke up this morning to a clear, crisp, sunny day.
Snow in Pine Lake
Both girls refused to wear winter coats. I did managed to convince Chloe to wear a hat and mittens. On our way up to the post office, her tights got soaked (no surprise, she refused to wear anything but her crocs.), but I had brought extra socks and leggings for her, so she changed in…
What Is That Stuff?
Gazoo had never seen it before. She hasn’t seen much rain in her life either.

Happy Chrismtas All!
The girls last night after opening new jammies and one other gift…
It’s Party Time
We went to a big surprise party last night just up the street at the clubhouse. The girls had a great time — parties three nights in a row is a little much, though!
Blustery Day
Despite the wind, Camille really enjoyed playing at the beach on Tuesday. It is not clear what has come over, but she’s wanted to bake, bake, bake, these past few days. She’s made pancakes, french toast, crepes, peanut butter cookies, snickerdoodles and shortbread cookies this week. I’m hoping she’ll make latkes tonight!
