As much as I love to travel, it is nice to come home again. And something that makes home nice? My own bed and washing machine, for sure.
But even more? Friends. It takes me a long time to make friends. In Brookhaven, I don’t think I knew the names of more than a couple people. In Pine Lake, yes, there’s a feeling of being home — extending from before we moved there until now. It is HOME.
But finally, after years of living here in Decatur, I have a feeling of being home. I know and love our neighbors. We live in a shared space — elevators, halls, pool deck, parking deck and dog park. I enjoy their company and I think they are starting to accept me despite my quirks.
And so, once again, I’m home. And that’s a great feeling.
