We’ve been home for over a week now. I should have been fully caught up and back in the swing of things days ago. But I’m still struggling.

Last week, I took naps. Many, looong naps. I just couldn’t move. It was like I had the flu again, but without the fever. The combination of exhaustion from going at double speed for 1.5 weeks, jetlag, terrible allergies and maybe even a little sickness in there too was just too much.

While I struggled to keep up with work, volunteering and personal obligations, I wasn’t doing very much in the way of maintaining my peace of objective of thriving. Far from it. (Though I guess the napping was peaceful at times – those few minutes when I was so tired I couldn’t even feel guilty for not getting anything done.) I simply was managing to get by and feeling bad for not having the energy to do more than simply get by.

As of this morning, the jetlag and exhaustion have all but disappeared – I’m still tired, but not exhausted. The allergies are slowly receding – still have a cough, sore shoulders, itchy eyes, clogged ears and a sore throat. I have kept up at work. The house isn’t a disaster, though I do have a long grocery list. I’ve made some headway on volunteer projects (completed two trainings and migrated a blog that I’m transferring to another person).

Things are just settling down. Right in time for me to pack for the next adventure!
